Director Ajay Gnanamuthu, who had delivered the horror thriller Demonte Colony and impressed on debut
few years back, is back with a bang, as he returns with Lady Superstar Nayanthara leading from the front, warring Bollywood ace director Anurag Kashyap playing a deadly antagonist in the crime saga Imaikkaa Nodigal releasing today. Here's team AP Herald's exclusive first on net Imaikkaa Nodigal review.
Lady Superstar Nayanthara is back in a full on action avatar, after films like Billa and Arrambam, in a
gun wielding avatar, and full marks to her for showing multiple dimensions, as the actress excels as the soft, in love girl Anjali, and as the tough officer on the hunt, chasing the maniac Rudra.
Anurag Kashyap makes a deadly debut as Rudra, the psycho killer on the run, playing havoc in lives of people, and his character is etched such a way as to let Anurag unleash his anger and emote with his eyes and ooze menace on screen. Atharvaa is his usual energetic self and is
cool , excelling in action and emotions, while Raashi Khanna looks gorgeous. Makkal Selvan in his brief emotional cameo is impressive, and his chemistry with Nayanthara is captivating. The rest of the cast is adequate.
Hip Hop Thamizha
hass provided a scintillating background score that gels well with the dark theme of the movie, and of his songs, Neeyum Naanum and Kadhal Oru Aagayam are the pick of the lot. RD Rajasekhar's stunning cinematography captures the violent sequences and chases with elan, while also presenting the songs colorfully.
Editing by Bhuvan Srinivasan is taut, making the audience engaged despite a lengthy runtime. Director Ajay Gnanamuthu had proved himself on debut, with his horror hit Demonte Colony, and with Imaikkaa Nodigal, he makes a point that the debut success was not a flash in the pan, as he has weaved an interesting tale of good vs bad, with the cunning hyena-likee Rudra, being chased by the sharp and brilliant Anjali.
Everything in Imaikkaa Nodigal is impactful, right from the casting, as Nayan and Anurag are perfectly cast in their roles, as the thinking officer and as the scheming psycho, and Atharva and Vijay Sethupathi impress with their second fiddle acts. The first half of Imaikaa Nodigal moves at a brisk pace, establishing the maniacal nature of Rudra, and the second half hunt moves with some interesting twists and turns at regular intervals, keeping the viewers at the edge of the seat, With a perfect technical team, including Hip Hop Thamizha providing stunning BGM, and RD Rajasekhar capturing the action effectively, making Imaikkaa Nodigal a visually rich and slick flick. With a gripping screenplay, and impressive star cast lending power to it, Imaikaa Nodigal is a perfect
spine chilling action thriller high on style and substance, hitting the . bulls eye
