Vijay Deverakonda had modest beginnings to his career, after being seen in uncredited roles in films like Life is Beautiful, and later playing second fiddle to Nani in yevade Subrahmanyam, before scoring his first surprise hit with the rom-com Pellichoopulu, and following it with the sensational Arjun Reddy.
The success of Arjun Reddy had given him not just a huge following but also immense pressure to carry on the momentum, and he had two flops as well after Pellichoopulu, with Dwaraka and the disastrous Ye Mantram Vesave, which were delayed releases.
Nevetheless, the Arjun Reddy impact was always there, as his latest release the romantic family entertainer Geetha Govindam directed by Parasuram and costarring Sandalwood beauty Rashmika Mandanna, has become a massive blockbuster, entering the 100 crores grosser club, with a total of 102.73 crores gross and a share of 53 crores, within less than 2 weeks of release, and the movie is soon expected to topple shares of Powerstar's Katamarayudu.
