A MoU was signed between Andhra Pradesh and U.S.A based electronic hardware manufacturing giant Flex Ltd. at the Secretariat on Tuesday. Flex Ltd. which has a presence across 30 countries will set up its hardware manufacturing unit near Tirupati with an investment of Rs. 585 crores. This move is expected to bring in employment to 6,600 people.

Briefing the Chief Minister on the future plans of the company, Francois Barbier, President, Global Operations for Flex Ltd. said, “We have chosen Andhra Pradesh as our destination with a positive intent. We are looking forward to work with you and create an ecosystem which is fulfilling to all.”
“I want to get a positive outcome out of this initiative. Result in form of happiness and prosperity is my primary motive”, said the Chief Minister.


The Chief Minister informed the officials that they will be receiving all possible support from government whether it is in form of power, infrastructure, water or any logistical backing that may be required. “I am pleased to inform you that Tirupati, Nellore and the cluster around it will have airports and infrastructure specifically for this purpose. Land is abundant along with a great road and port connectivity. Krishnapatnam port that is very near to the cluster is bustling and growing and you would not get all these advantages anywhere else”, he added.


“India is going to have a great hardware demand in the coming days and you must use your expertise in the industry and be ready to fulfil that. I want to make AP a knowledge economy and Tirupati in particular a hardware hub”, said the Chief Minister speaking about his vision.The meeting was attended by IT& Communications Minister, Nara Lokesh, Principal Secretary, G. Sai Prasad, Principal Secretary (IT), K. Vijayanand and Doug Britt, President, Flex Ltd.
