Months back, during the test match between Australia and South Africa, Steve Smith and David Warner were charged with ball tampering, but the players were given a mere penalty of 75% of match fees for Bancroft and a ban from playing one test match for Smith. However many have criticised ICC decision as a small penalty for a huge mistake while also pointing that the main player behind this incident, David Warner was not given any penalty.

However, cricket Australia took the issue seriously and issued a ban of 6 months for Bancroft and one year for both Steve Smith and David Warner. Now with ICC decision, the players involved in ball tampering will get 12 suspension points,  which would mean a ban of 6 tests and 12 ODIs. Strict action will also be taken for disrespecting umpires and also when abusive words are heard in stump Mike.
