The judgment in the review petitions of the three convicts in December 2012 Delhi gangrape and murder case will be given today by the supreme court. On may 4, the court had reserved its order after review petitions filed by  Pawan Gupta(31), Vinay Sharma (25), and Mukesh (31).

A bench Headed by Chief Justice of India  Dipak Misra and including Justice Ashok Bhushan and R Bhanumathi, will issue the verdict in the case. Akshay Thakur (33), the 4th convict has not filed a review petition, though the court had granted three weeks time for Akshay to file a review petition.



As per the prosecution, a 23-year-old paramedical student was brutally assaulted and raped by six men in a bus in South Delhi and was thrown out of the bus along with her male friend on December 16, 2012. The girl died on December 29, after the treatment at a Singapore hospital. Prime accused Ram Singh had committed suicide in the in 2013 in Tihar, while another was found to be minor by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) Following which he was sentenced to three years at probation home.


The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal for a reduced sentence and the death penalty has been reaffirmed by the Supreme Court. All the four convicts will hang to death.
