Velmurugan and Shenbagam run a mill named RMBD in Virudhunagar, and they plotted to turn rich by cheating farmers and daily wage workers and lied to them to get the pension and got signatures from 169 of them. With the signatures, they had applied for loans worth 25-40 lakhs in State bank of India, and they got the amounts credited in the accounts opened in the name of the 169 people, and escaped with the money.
Later one of the farmers named Nagamuthu had received a notice to repay 96 lakhs loan, and he absconded, and 400 similar complaints came. Velmurugan and Shenbagam were arrested and another person named Sannasi was also arrested in connection with the case, and it was found that 15 farmers had faced mysterious deaths as well. Now the case is being investigated.
